Hi Michael,

My name is Ray.....I "fell in love" with craps about 7 years ago. I had a big score, beginner's luck, I guess! Since then, I have had various experiences, trying to find the system to beat the house odds. I have done a lot of studying of the game and have learned many lessons. But, I really enjoy your articles about metaphysics, energy at the table, and the players involved. I have been doing a lot of meditation on these ideas and recently have been much more successful at the tables. I usually go with a $1,000 bankroll, with a loss limit of 250.00 and a win goal of at least 300.00. I would like to attend a Dice-Buster class, but unfortunately I live in Ohio and airfares are pretty high right now. Do you have anything besides your articles I can turn to for your valuable information?   Thanks, Ray

Hello Ray,

Like you, I felt that the must be a way around the house odds. In truth, there is not. However, we can have control of our game and learn advantages. How we do that is by understanding the game, and knowing everything about the game. Especially, we need to know why we lose and then eliminate the reason for losing. This is why I say, “you can win them all”. Of course this is also a metaphysical practice of affirming that which you intend to manifest.

In my 18 years of playing dice, I have been ahead, and winning in most of the games. Only that I continued to play, exposing myself to the house odds, and I would end up losing the profit along with some of my own money resulting in a losing session. Short lesson here… I have studied the game. I continue to study the game and I learn from my mistakes. Sharing my knowledge of the game comes from my many years of doing what works and eliminating that which does not. Take the money!

Having had the monster game in the beginning is almost a curse. At the same time, we always play for that monster game. It is the pursuit of the elusive prey that makes the hunt so exciting. Hell, how much fun would it be if it were easy?

I like your game plan. One thing to recognize is the win goal is to WIN. It is not about how much. The problem with how much is how it can get us in the losing column. If I had stopped playing in all the games when I was up 6 units, 8 units, 12 units, what then? Sure the wins would not add up to much, at first glance. How many of those small profits were pissed away into a complete loss of the bankroll for that game? Contrast that to what could have been won to what was eventually lost. Well, because I keep a journal, I know. I know that at the end of the year, I do win more than I lose. I also can see where I made silly mistakes playing too long and then chasing the loss instead of locking up the win.

First thing to do is to keep a journal. This is the best way to have an honest assessment of what you are doing right and wrong. Then, eliminate the mistakes forever. http://www.dicebusters.com/Journal.page.htm

I cannot make comment on your bankroll because you do not get into the details. On the surface is sounds like you are properly bankrolled. But without knowing the details of your bets and units, I am not able to advise help. Understanding that there is more to the game with the energy provides you with the biggest advantage you can ever have.

Ray, it always comes down to right time, right place and right action. Take heart in knowing that. Dice Buster may come along for you or it may not. Accept what is. Trust in the timing. You may not need the program anyway. Perhaps in time, with experience, it all comes together for you and fits like a glove.

In my playbook, “The Do’s and Don’t of Dice”, I cover the plays that you must employ first as a foundation in the game, to other bets that may like to make. As you might guess from the title, I cover both sides of the game, pass line, and the don’t pass line. I explain the math of the game and more aggressive betting options. I do caution players to be conservative with the more aggressive plays.

I also have articles up at www.dicesetter.com  and www.dicecoach.com  In addition to what I offer there, you will find other great ideas about playing craps at these web sites.

Quick note about dice setting, it does work, and when it does, it can provide an additional advantage. However, it does not work all the time… Why? We cannot repeat the same occurrence every time… never mind the dice are cubes.

Last thing, regarding living in Ohio, when the right time comes, the right thing will happen. Ray, working with abundance has to do with your connection to a limitless universe. Be careful about what you say and think about money. I know exactly what you are saying about air fares, however it is not unfortunate that you life in Ohio, “Ohio is a wonderful place and it is serving your needs!” Air fares are not holding you back, a lack of abundance is. Eliminate the thought form of, “I can’t afford it”. If you had the money, you could afford to attend. See? So, work on changing the thoughts from the money stopping you, to a belief in money sets you free. It is not the money stopping you. It’s the belief system of “lack” that is stopping you. Now, that still does not change the current situation. But at some point, as you change your beliefs, there will be a shift in the energy for you. For now, it is a matter of identifying your needs and the funds available for those needs. If the rent is due tomorrow, you do not say, “I can’t afford a trip”. It is appropriate action to pay the rent and take care of your immediate business first. Then work on your plan for the trip. Work on the energy issues over time. Over time you will see the difference.

A tight comfort zone restricts abundance. A comfort zone that says, “I am open to receiving more of everything for my highest good”, allows for many more options. You can have your job and you can discover other streams of income for example. You can increase your energy at work and the boss comes over to offer you a promotion for your 100% kick ass ways of getting things done.

The neat thing is this, time really does not exist. It is a fabrication of this dimension. The shift does not have to take a life time or even a day. Once you align with the concepts of abundance, the shift can occur in a flash of a smile or the blink of an eye.

The universe works in mysterious ways. We only have to align to a belief in the ways of its workings. We do not have to totally understand the how and why. Few people really understand the workings of an internal combustion engine, but that does not stop them from being successful drivers.

Well, that’s it for this edition of the Playing 4 Keeps™ Newsletter.

See you at the tables,

Michael Vernon

Ask My Dog Mousse?

Dear Mousse,

I made it to the final table in a tournament. I was about in the middle of the field with chips. My cards went cold and I got blinded out until I had to eventually go all in with Q/2 cards. I folded three hands that would have been winners had I called the raise earlier on. Only that the hands were unplayable, 8/3, 5/6, A/2, all off suite. My question, how could I have played better to win those hands?

Thanks,

Losing the Winning Hands

Answer: First you have to look at the facts. You can’t know what cards are going to win pre-flop. If making it to the money is the goal, you can’t risk you stake on marginal hands, like the ones you mentioned. You can’t look back in remorse with “if only I had played”. At some point you have to draw a line in the sand when drawing dead hands and take your best shot. That sounds like what you did do. It does not sound like you held enough chips to muscle a bluff.

It's is not a good sign to see that your poor hands would have been winners. Let’s face it, the winning hands are usually spread around and when you see your share of winners in the muck, it is not likely that the poker gods are going to make up for it later with hot hands like A/A to make amends. In other words, you had your shot at winning and just could not connect having to fold junk hands. Accept the outcome as just one of the many dimensions that continue to make the game exciting.

Hope this helps,

Mousse
