This is an opportunity of a lifetime to experience the
combined gaming expertise and personalized attention of the Dice Coach and
myself. Beau Parker and I get together maybe twice a year to present our gaming
programs. Who you gonna call? Summer Cooler… A couple of weeks ago, Lin brought home a DVD and said, "I got a movie just for you." It was The Cooler starring William H. Macy, Maria Bello and Academy Award Nominee, Alec Baldwin. In short, it’s a Las Vegas love story. Bernie Lootz, played by Macy, is the Cooler. Bernie Lootz is a loser. Even his name says loser. He lost so much to the Shangri-La Casino that he becomes an indentured employee to cover his marker. Bernie’s job? Well, he’s the guy that goes to a hot table and cools it off. In the movie, the early scenes frankly depict many examples of what I explain as the metaphysics of the game. It is for these scenes that I recommend viewing the motion picture plus the story ending. Everything about Bernie exudes a losing energy from his low life loser self-esteem, to the thin walled dump he calls home, to the bartender never having cream for his coffee. It is uncanny, every time Bernie gets the call to cool a game the game breaks down like magic. The winning streak comes to an abrupt end. The winner continues to play until becoming a loser. Bernie calmly walks back to the bar to finish his coffee less the cream. And so it goes, for Bernie, cooling off hot games until his debt is paid off. I cannot say that I have ever been in a game with a cooler. However, I have been in loads of great games, craps and twenty-one, when the casino personal interceded to do whatever they can to break up the game. So, how did the Cooler do his work? He was able to shift the energy. He interrupted one energy with another energy. He had the belief that he was a loser. He owned the ability of sending the winning energy off course. That was Bernie’s gift. He believed in his losing ways. If he was in a game, there was no way the casino could lose. Innocently enough, some players are coolers. These individuals may come into your good game, buy in, and end a good thing. How? It is like viewing a reflection in a still pool. When someone comes along and rudely splashes a large stone, the reflection is destroyed. It all falls apart like in the movie. It is not their intention to wreck the game. It is just that they "splash" it. There seems to be a delicate balance to any game. All it takes is the Cooler to come a long to have it all slide away. This is why I teach, "pick your playmates". Not everyone playing is a knowledgeable and skilled player. Not everyone playing has a positive attitude about winning. So, some players are like Bernie Lootz, they simply can’t help but lose and bring down a game. It is not about a person’s luck in a good or bad framework. It has to do with the energy resonating within that person. Some people have a big expansive energy and succeed in life. Others live a life in contraction and withdrawal, failing in life. When you change your energy, you change reality. See how it works out for Bernie in the Cooler. This is the reason my venue for teaching spirituality and metaphysics happens in the classroom of a casino. When it comes to energy, emotion and life lessons, it’s all happening in a casino. See Me at the Tables… Recently, at dicecoach.com, Soft Touch and the Dice Coach wrote about the casinos they like to play. It seems like that energy is drawing on me to share likewise. Last week a subscriber sent me an email asking, "do we really get to see you at the tables?" In part, he was questioning if I really attend the casino sessions with my students during a workshop. He was also wondering where I play in order to be "seen" at the tables. Yes, I am accountable. I’m a little bird perched on the shoulder of my students. I am right there for questions, guidance and counsel. So, without a doubt, I am present during any casino session, be it the Do’s and Don’t’s of Dice or my Blackjack For Winners seminars. If I am out with other players, I tend to go with the flow. It is, after all, the excitement and fun of camaraderie. Playing on my own, the battle plan is completely different. I have a method to my decision process. One secret I’ll share is to push out with my feelings and silently ask where will I find a winning game. One or more casinos may come to mind. I then visualize myself at the casino(s), and become aware of any perception. It boils down to a (yes – no) how does it feel to be there. So, here is my list ranked in order of preference.
Out of the eighty plus casinos in Las Vegas, I have not been to all of them. Looking at the collection of chips on my wall I have played at a majority of them. Funny with so many places to play, for me, there are not that many favorites. Show me a craps table with dealers, dice and chips and I’ll show you a game. The game is but a game and in the end, I say play where you are most comfortable. You always win more when you feel that you are at your best and in your comfort zone. *************************************************** Save This Weekend Date: October 15, 16 and 17 A Las Vegas weekend you will not want to miss out on.
